Kate Dowty

My recent work celebrates locations close to my home where the landscape, the coastline and the colours of West Dorset provide daily inspiration. The colour and movement of the sea, the textures of the stunning cliffs of the Jurassic Coast and the patterns created by the patchwork of small fields scattered over the hillsides are all included in the mix.

I use a mixture of improvisational techniques and particularly enjoy the tactile effects that result from adding dense stitching to cloth.
