My artistic career started with a City and Guilds Embroidery course followed by an honours degree in Textile Design Surface/Pattern. I was influenced by the work of Japanese fibre artists and inspired by a visit to Japan to meet with Machiko Agano.
The American paper artist Angiola Churchill encouraged me to explore working with tissue paper after seeing her installation 'Beyond the Garden' in Venice in 2003.
I dye tissue paper, threads, cotton and linen scrim. I also use acrylics and various mixed media. My imagery flows from my dyeing and heat bonding techniques with an active response to the living world.
