Presently SWTG has 36 members and one honorary member. The group is self-funded and is administered voluntarily by a committee elected by the membership. The Annual General Meeting is held in January where members vote in officers and their deputies who serve the interests of the group. Members are expected to take an active role by attending meetings, organising exhibitions and events.
Meetings are lively, creative and many friendships are formed through mutual interest. SWTG publishes a regular Newsletter keeping members up to date with the membership, exhibitions and general information about the group.
Our talented group offers wide ranging textile art forms from tapestry weaving, hand and machine embroidery, patchwork, felt making, paper forms, metal and wire work, photography, ceramics, mixed media and installation work. We are dedicated and committed artists.
SWTG
The South West Textile Group (SWTG) was formed in 1988 by professional textile artists in the South West of England UK. Its aim is to support and improve the quality of textile creation in its broadest sense. The group has exhibited regularly at leading venues around the country and also curated three successful national touring exhibitions.
Important to the group is the encouragement of new work and the personal development of its members. The Group is self funded and administered voluntarily by its members, all of whom expect to take an active role organizing exhibitions and events.
